Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) equipment
Pleasant View Utility District is starting the process to replace all meters with Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) equipment. This change is for multiple reasons including employee safety, improve meter reading accuracy, and increase efficiency. With AMR, the meter readers can collect meter readings much quicker by simply driving by meter locations. The new meters will assist customers in detecting leaks and will assist utility staff in detecting malfunctioning or tampered meters. Additionally, this timely information coupled with analysis, can help both utility staff and customers better manage the District’s potable water usage.
The project is scheduled to start in February/March 2016 and should take around 6 months to complete. PVUD will hire private contractors to install the new meters. The actual installation of each meter will take less than thirty minutes to complete. Every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience to customers during this period. The new meters will look similar to the old meters but will have the electronic device attached to allow drive-by reading. As a result of work on each meter, customers may notice discolored water. If this occurs, customers should run their taps a few moments or until the water runs clear.
